Passing the driving test (and other exams)

Speaking personally, taking my driving test was one of the most nerve wracking things I have ever done in my life. It was a long time ago yet I can still recall my high anxiety level as I set off on my first driving test…. and the feeling of deep disappointment when I failed that test, and then another test,  before finally getting the better of my anxiety and passing on the third attempt. If only I had known then about hypnosis and how it could have helped me to drive calmly and confidently.

Passing the driving test is a challenge and a big deal for most folk (even the outwardly super confident and nonchalant!) as it is literally a gateway to freedom. So the pressure to pass can be high and it can come in different forms including:

  • expectations – friends and family members have passed + your instructor expects you to pass, you have high hopes too and after all there is over 40 million people in the UK with driving licenses – so it can’t be that hard surely?
  • fear of failure  – perhaps increased by the need to have a license for a job, or to travel to and from university, or maybe to avoid a repeat of the pain from failing the last test…
  • lack of confidence – even when people say we can drive well, the inner voice says something very different.
  • misuse of the imagination – perceiving things going wrong, exaggerating risks, worrying about loss of control, imagining the examiner from hell…

The good news is that we can make it a lot easier than it needs to be if we know how to put our mind to it.  And this is where hypnosis comes in. Using hypnosis, I can help significantly reduce fears, boost confidence, and channel the nervous energy and imagination in much more positive, appropriate ways.  And of course, this applies to any exam not just the driving test.
